A source verified to the Southern California News Group on Saturday morning that the Lakers and free-agent centre Jaxson Hayes have reached an agreement on a two-year contract.

According to the source, Hayes will have a player option for the second year of his contract, allowing him the chance to leave for free agency again the following year.

Since being selected with the No. 8 choice in the 2019 draught, the 6-foot-11 Hayes has averaged 7.5 points and 4 rebounds in 16.8 minutes (241 games) with the New Orleans Pelicans (2019–23).

He just finished a season in which, although playing as a reserve, he averaged 5 points and 2.8 rebounds in 13 minutes.

Most likely, Hayes will serve as the backup big.

Guard Gabe Vincent, a free agent, and the Lakers reached an agreement on a three-year contract.on Friday, when free agency began at 3 p.m. PT, a one-year contract with free agent forward Taurean Prince and a two-year agreement with free agent wing Cam Reddish.

Additionally, they have agreed to a three-year, $51 million contract with forward Rui Hachimura, who was a restricted free agency.

When veteran guard Dennis Schröder and big Troy Brown reached agreements with rival clubs on Friday, the Lakers bid farewell to two free agents from their roster from the previous season. Schröder allegedly reached an agreement with the Toronto Raptors for a $26 million, two-year contract. Brown will join the Minnesota Timberwolves for a single season.
